Good Business for Women Farmers in Mali!

Context

Feere Diyara (“Marketing has been good”) was an initiative led by the International Agricultural Alliance (CECI, UPA DI, and Socodevi) aimed at reducing poverty among cereal and vegetable producers in the regions of Koulikoro, Mopti, Ségou, and Sikasso in Mali.

To achieve this, we focused on improving access to better marketing conditions, quality products and services, and adapted post-harvest infrastructure. The project also strengthened the offer of profitable services within producer organizations, including access to agricultural inputs, marketing, grading, and processing of rice, maize, shallots, and sesame.

A closer look at the project

Description

The Feere Diyara project contributed significantly to developing agricultural marketing plans, implementing computerized accounting systems, and designing financial and capitalization strategies for organizations.

Results

Organizations supported by Socodevi and its partners now count 61% more producer members. On the ground, 74 facilities and pieces of equipment are now fully operational for post-harvest handling and processing, boosting grain and vegetable storage capacity by 140%.

In practical terms: fewer losses, better quality, improved sales, rising incomes — and value chains that are stronger and more resilient thanks to the co-operative model.
