Agsama Kape

Project Summary

With the Agsama Kape project, Socodevi strengthens the climate and economic resilience of Indigenous women coffee producers in the mountainous regions of northern Philippines. The project relies on climate-smart, nature-based coffee production practices, stronger co-operative governance, and increased participation of women in decision-making along the value chain.

By supporting local co-operatives through training, knowledge sharing, and the development of demonstration plots, Socodevi promotes inclusive, sustainable development that is adapted to local climate realities.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the climate and economic resilience of Indigenous women producers in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Cagayan Valley by combining nature-based, climate-smart coffee practices, strong co-operative services, and women’s leadership at every step of the value chain
  • Increase the adoption of nature-based, climate-smart coffee practices that support forest biodiversity by Indigenous women producers and their families
  • Improve the performance of associations and co-operatives to sustainably support climate adaptation—governance, services, financial inclusion, and risk management—while respecting biodiversity
  • Increase the effective participation of diverse groups of Indigenous women in decisions
