Biodiversity Conservation and Empowerment of Women from Ethnic Minorities

Project Summary

With the BLOOM project, Socodevi relies on co-operative economic development to preserve ecosystems that are essential to biodiversity, while strengthening the climate resilience of women, ethnic minorities, and local communities in the provinces of Ha Giang and Dak Lak, Vietnam.

Objectives

  • Strengthen women’s role in forest management and biodiversity conservation
  • Strengthen the empowerment of women from ethnic minorities by providing sustainable, environmentally friendly economic alternatives
  • Safeguard protected forests in northern and central provinces
  • Strengthen community climate resilience
  • Improve the profitability of economic activities and living conditions of women from ethnic minorities
  • Restore and conserve at least 10,000 hectares of forests that are strategic for biodiversity but vulnerable to environmental pressures
