DEVENIR

Development of Women and Adolescent Girls in Niger

Project Summary

This innovative project, implemented in Niger by Socodevi in consortium with Médecins du Monde—in a country classified as a fragile state since 2008 by the OECD and among the poorest in the world—proposes an integrated approach to improve women’s and adolescent girls’ access to health care while strengthening their economic power. Its objective: ensuring that lack of resources is no longer a barrier to their empowerment, informed decision-making, and access to quality care.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the economic power of women and adolescent girls so they can meet their basic needs and develop activities adapted to climate challenges
  • Improve access to and use of health services, including primary care, nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and prevention in response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)
  • Increase the mobilization of economic, social, and cultural actors in support of women’s and adolescent girls’ rights and empowerment
