Together with local partners, Socodevi completed the Project for the Diversification and Competitiveness Improvement of Associative Enterprises in Peru’s Extractive Regions (PRODIVCOM). This initiative significantly strengthened the technical capacity, entrepreneurial performance and governance of the organizations involved.
Agricultural value chains were strengthened—including asparagus, avocado, coffee, mushrooms, legumes, quinoa, passionfruit, and pineapple—alongside livestock sectors such as guinea pig farming and dairy. These improvements led to major increases in yields, considerable growth in household income, and, ultimately, a tangible improvement in the living conditions of thousands of families between 2013 and 2021.
By the end of the project, participating women had strengthened their self-confidence, taken on more decision-making roles regarding resources and family matters, and become more active within their organizations and communities. Family farm yields doubled, 800 farms obtained international certifications, and more than 2,000 members of associative enterprises received training in organizational management.
On the environmental front, 100 ecological irrigation systems were installed, nearly 1,700 hectares were reforested, and 18 associative enterprises adopted improved environmental practices. Supported in part by multiple private-sector partners, this set of achievements boosted value chain performance and secured the long-term impact of Socodevi’s work.
