For the 5th edition of World Cleanup Day and its first year as an International Day on the United Nations Calendar, SOCODEVI asked its teams to roll up their sleeves and get cleaning! The aim of this global initiative is to bring people together to clean up the waste polluting our environment.

World Cleanup Day is a multinational day that raises awareness of the need to find sustainable solutions to pollution in cities and nature. Each year, tens of millions of people from around the world work together to spread the word that the solutions we need are within reach, and that individuals can make all the difference.

SOCODEVI is delighted with the results of its first contribution to the cause. “We thought this initiative might resonate with our teams, whose engagement is already second to none,” says Richard Lavallée, a project manager at SOCODEVI who kickstarted the organization’s involvement in World Cleanup Day, “but what they managed to achieve in just their first year really blew us away! This is real proof of SOCODEVI’s commitment to our mission and our desire to ensure a sustainable, lasting future for the co-op families we support all around the world.”

In all, more than 1,600 participants answered the call by picking up waste in green spaces, parks, fields, riverbanks and agricultural areas.

Our efforts focused on environmentally sound management, of course, but we also used the activity as a chance to raise awareness and harness the enthusiasm of all the participants who answered the call. World Cleanup Day is a great opportunity to educate the next generation about how important it is to build a healthy, sustainable environment to ensure a lasting future for generations to come.

SOCODEVI would like to thank all the participants, partners and families who attended. See you next year!
