SOCODEVI has officially launched its new Guatemala-based project, PRODISOL, at an event in the department of Sololá. PRODISOL (Proyecto de Desarrollo Inclusivo en Sololá) will focus on improving the living conditions of women and young people working in the tourism sector in the Lake Atitlán basin. The goal of PRODISOL is to sustainably and economically empower more than 1,200 Indigenous women and youth in the Lake Atitlán basin.

The launch was a resounding success and showcased PRODISOL as a successful example of the partnership between SOCODEVI and the Government of Canada. The event also highlighted the contributions of UV Insurance, a member institution of the SOCODEVI network, to the project’s implementation.

The event focused on themes such as gender equality, the cooperative movement, sustainable tourism, and entrepreneurship, and attendees included the Canadian Ambassador to Guatemala, Rajani Alexander, representatives of non-government organizations, partner institutions of PRODISOL, entrepreneurs in the tourism industry and local media.
