On November 10, close to 350 people attended SOCODEVI’s 35thAnnual Assembly, where many proud moments were celebrated.

Organizers hosted the major annual event in a virtual meeting space, thus extending its reach and creating the opportunity to welcome representatives of financial and other partners, members of cooperatives and organizations supported by our projects, and colleagues from across the globe!

The Honourable Karina Gould, Canada’s Minister of International Development, also joined us live, and her presence was one of the highlights of the meeting.

“ Despite the social distancing necessary to protect our health, we are united in our dedication and commitment to the cooperative movement. We especially appreciate the movement’s ability to help the most vulnerable among us. SOCODEVI has been working for 35 years to improve the living conditions of the world’s most vulnerable communities. By strengthening cooperatives in developing countries, you help to bring about tangible, sustainable results. The numbers speak for themselves. […]. We are very proud to work with you. ”

SOCODEVI CEO Jean-Philippe Marcoux, who just completed his first year at the helm of the organization, described 2019–2020 as a time of change.

He commended the staff multiple times for their creativity and commitment during the pandemic, applauding their teamwork and ability “to brave global upheavals.”
