A stronger footing for SOCODEVI in Chad

Barely into the new year and we're celebrating not one, but two events to officially mark the launch of SOCODEVI's activities in Chad. Through the Chadian women resilient to climate change (TRACC) project, ceremonies were held on January 15 and 22, respectively in the capital, N'Jaména, and in the province of Guéra, in Mongo.

Literacy as empowerment
Literacy training for women farmers is an essential initiative for empowering them and improving their living conditions. Our Dou Touloma project, concerned with the socio-economic empowerment and well-being of women farmers in Mali, has set up a literacy initiative in the regions of Ségou, Dioila, Koulikoro and Sikasso that has reached nearly 2,300 producers.

Reinventing the future for paid care workers in Central America

What’s TRASOL? In a nutshell, it’s SOCODEVI’s new innovative social justice initiative to make a real difference in Guatemala and Honduras. With financial backing from the Canadian government, our teams will spend the next several years working to improve the living conditions of 4,500 women and 1,250 young girls who are paid care workers in both countries.

Women’s cooperatives in Morocco: an inspiring exchange!
On August 26–28, 2024, the Resilient Women in the Middle Atlas (FERMA) project organized a series of highly rewarding exchanges among several women’s cooperatives in the Middle Atlas region. This event, led by SOCODEVI in partnership with Morocco’s national water and forestry agency (ANEF) and with financial backing from the Government of Canada, is one of our many efforts to empower women financially and help them sustainably manage natural resources.

Colombian cocoa exported to the Netherlands and the United States!

Together, we’re celebrating the result of hard work by the indigenous Arhuaco community in Colombia, which directly exported 7.5 tons of organic cocoa to two companies in the Netherlands, Chocolate Makers and Crafting Markets

The PROCED journey comes to a celebratory end

In December 2023, after five years in operation, the Development Program for Inclusive and Sustainable Model Cooperatives (PROCED) took its final bow, with closing ceremonies held in all three of the host countries for the program: Senegal, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

In December 2023, SOCODEVI launched a new awareness campaign in the western Côte d’Ivoire village of Krikoréa to mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Colombia’s cocoa power!

In September, our Colombia team pulled off quite the feat, organizing the Festival del Cacao with the help of one of its financial partners! The Festival del Cacao brought together cocoa producers that SOCODEVI supports in the Putumayo region, one of four regions where the AGROEMPRENDE CACAO project operates in Colombia.
